Citroën Ami corrects one of its defects on the new version

With its new stickers, the Citroën Ami Pop is getting a makeover. But the most important thing to remember is not this decoration, but a change in the driving mode selector.

A fresh and dynamic look for even more character »: this is Citroën’s promise for the Friend in its press release of November 7. Concretely, and as regularly since its launch, Citroën is significantly changing the exterior design of the star of license-free mobility.

The new version of the Citroën Ami Pop does not escape the trend and receives new stickers for the 2024 edition. These are supposed to give a taste of novelty to a model which has not really evolved technically since 2020: Citroën Ami is still an electric motor quadricycle offering 2 seats, 75 km of autonomy for a maximum speed of 45 km/h. However, one change – which does not concern the aesthetics of the machine – is much more interesting to note. The location of the selector finally changes to arrive visibly on the dashboard.

No more hidden “RND” buttons to the left of the driver’s seat

For new Citroën Ami drivers, it was necessary to get used to the position of the driving mode selector. Naturally, it is not to the left of the driver’s seat, towards the ground, that one would think to look for the buttons to activate forward or reverse gear. This was one of the small details that confused us during testing in 2020. It must be said that when the motorist has to make maneuvers in a hurry, the location of the buttons and the lack of visibility on them have never been a problem. was really ideal.

Current drivers have had to get used to it. However, it is good news to see that the buttons have finally changed places after three years on the market. It was the limited edition of the Ami Buggy (2023) which introduced this new feature. We could see in the images of the future Fiat Topolino that Fiat has planned this new location in its Italian version of the Ami. The selector is now clearly visible to the right of the steering wheel.

Citroën indicates that all finishes (Ami Ami, My Ami Orange/Grey/Blue and My Ami Tonic) will gradually switch to the new selector in the first quarter of 2024. It is likely that the Opel version will also change in 2024.
