The Buggy Friend is back. Faced with the success of the concept car presented by Citroën, the manufacturer had decided to produce 50 copies of the quadricycle in the adventurer version in 2022. It only took a few minutes for the 50 Citroën Ami Buggy to be sold. Citroën has therefore decided to offer a new sale of its collector’s item, but this time with 1,000 copies available in 10 different countries to satisfy a few more buyers.
With this new version, some practical changes have been made to the model. However, there are no technical changes. Citroën Ami Buggy remains a two-seater electric quadricycle which offers 75 km of autonomy, for a speed limited to 45 km/h. The novelties are mainly on the side of accessories.
A little more protection for rainy days
If this machine is rather thought of as a “beach vehicle”, to be used in good weather, the weather can still be unpredictable and capricious. Citroën therefore reviewed the way in which the occupants of the Ami Buggy could be protected from the weather. The brand offers new plastic covers equipped with zippers to keep them in place. The system remains easy to roll up and store to get rid of the protections as soon as the weather permits.
In the same vein, the soft top has also been improved to make it easier to attach. When it is no longer needed, it can be rolled up and attached to the roof frame with press studs. The aesthetics of the whole has been slightly revised to better integrate the soft top.
In the absence of an airbag, a bag in the center of the steering wheel
Inside, there are also some minimal changes in this new edition of the Ami Buggy. The handset changes significantly in style, and a new nomadic speaker for music is offered. But the most surprising change certainly comes from the integration of a removable bag that attaches to the center of the steering wheel to store some personal effects. A kind of neon yellow banana bag that you can take with you on the beach (or elsewhere). After all, it can be practical, if only to leave the key to your Citroën Ami there. On the other hand, you have to be able to assume the Ami Buggy style to the end.
Small blow of inflation on the price: 10,490 €
This new generation of the Ami Buggy sees its price increase compared to the version limited to 50 copies of 2022. In fact, all Citroën Amis have increased over the same period of time. If the launch of the quadricycle was done with a price of 6,900 €, it is now necessary to count on a minimum of 7,790 € to be able to acquire the electric mobility device.
The limited edition of the Ami Buggy goes from €9,790 to €10,490 for this sale on June 20, 2023. There is no doubt that this version will sell out very quickly despite an increased price. Last year’s enthusiasm for the vehicle produced in small series had caused ridiculous speculation around the Ami Buggy. The vehicle was on sale at prices above €25,000, i.e. 2.5 times its purchase price from the first deliveries during the summer of 2022.
Moreover, a look at leboncoin shows that last year’s collector’s item is still on sale between €14,500 and €19,990 at present. These sellers will probably have to lower their prices, because more than 1,000 copies will be delivered during the summer in several European countries.
