PARIS, June 22 (Reuters) – Stellantis boasted on Wednesday of having sold 50 copies of the limited edition “My Ami Buggy” of its electric cart in 17 minutes and 28 seconds, and took advantage of this result to address a nod to Elon Musk through advertising.

In a billboard, the Citroën brand writes: sorry Elon, if you want one, you will have to buy us back, a nod to the appetites of Elon Musk, the founder of the Californian electric car giant Tesla, in particular through its $44 billion takeover bid on Twitter.

The little Ami, a mini electric car without a license made in Morocco, has been marketed to date in around 22,000 copies in Europe, Morocco and Turkey, since its launch in April 2020.

All cars are sold only on the internet. The fastest customer for the limited edition, an open-top buggy version without doors available from 9,790 euros, was able to complete their entire purchase journey in 2 minutes and 53 seconds. (Gilles Guillaume, editing by Kate Entringer)
