Manuel Akanji is just as well placed in Manchester City’s defense as he is in the Swiss national team. Over the course of a year, a lot comes together in terms of playing minutes – in the case of the Swiss defender, last year there were 5,434 minutes (58 Premier League games and 10 international matches).

Akanji is one of the most frequent players in the top 5 leagues in Europe. Only 3 players accumulated more minutes played:

  • 1st place: Bruno Fernandes, Manchester United: 6288 minutes (72 games)
  • 2nd place: Antonio Rüdiger, Real Madrid: 5514 minutes (67 games)
  • 3rd place: Declan Rice, West Ham: 5437 minutes (65 games)

Brecher, the frequent player from Switzerland

With Ederson and Rodri, two other players from the Premier League are in the top 10 of European frequent players. The Super League was not taken into account, but a look at the highest Swiss league is still interesting: FCZ goalkeeper Yanick Brecher leads the ranking here. The 30-year-old played 38 games last year and played 3,450 minutes.
