With the announcement of the electric car i7 and the other models of the 7 series, BMW presented the future of its luxury class to the public last week. But for the expert and head of the Center for Automotive Research (CAR), Ferdinand Dudenhöffer, BMW laid an egg – especially with the i7.

Because he is not an independent e-car with a platform tailored to the electric drive. Rather, it shares the basic structure with the entire range, which also consists of petrol, diesel and hybrid versions.

For Dudenhöffer this is nothing half and nothing whole: “BMW needs to be braver. Old and new world at the same time, i.e. diesel and electric, does not fit into a clear brand positioning” (source: image). Diesel, e-car and plug-in hybrid are intended for the German market, the petrol engine will not exist in this country.

Dudenhöffer: BMW can take a lesson from Tesla or Mercedes
