In recent weeks, fans of the Nintendo Switch, particularly those with a Nintendo Switch Online subscription, have been treated to a series of exciting updates. While the app has its limitations, it showcases Nintendo’s commitment to enhancing the gaming experience. Additionally, the company is continuously enriching its retro library, offering subscribers access to nostalgic games from their older consoles.
Regular members can revisit beloved classics from the NES, SNES, and Game Boy libraries. For those eager to explore titles from the Nintendo 64, Game Boy Advance, and even SEGA’s Mega Drive, the Expansion Pack option is available. Over time, Nintendo has been diligently adding to the content of both tiers, unveiling new titles that fans eagerly await. Two Donkey Kong Classics Join the Nintendo Switch Online Lineup
If you keep up with Nintendo’s latest announcements, you might have noticed the company’s expansion at Universal Studios Japan in Osaka. A couple of weeks ago, Nintendo provided a sneak peek of the upcoming Donkey Kong Country area during a Super Nintendo World Direct presentation. To celebrate the launch of this new attraction at the Universal park, Nintendo has decided to enrich the Donkey Kong library… on Nintendo Switch Online. It’s no coincidence that the classic service is adding not just one, but two titles from the Donkey Kong series at the end of this month!
On November 22, the beloved game Donkey Kong Land, a Game Boy adaptation of Donkey Kong Country, made its debut on Nintendo Switch Online. Shortly after, Donkey Kong Land 2 followed suit. Like its predecessor, this title adapts Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy’s Kong Quest for the Game Boy. Nintendo’s strategy of adapting these popular titles for handheld gaming was a great move, as both games enjoyed significant success following the original Donkey Kong Country. Sales figures for Donkey Kong Land are estimated at 3.91 million copies, while Land 2 reached an impressive 2.35 million copies. Now, it’s time to relive the magic of these classics through Nintendo Switch Online!
