That hurt! While cleaning his pistol, a woman from Linz may have overlooked that there was still a cartridge in the chamber and accidentally shot his 14-year-old son in the big right toe.
The 59-year-old from Linz, who was legally in possession of a firearm, cleaned it around 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday evening in the room of his 14-year-old son, who was watching. The father was sitting on the bed and the son on the desk chair when the shot rang out. He hit his son in the foot, right through the big right toe. Upon arrival, the police seized the weapon including magazines, ammunition, fired case and projectile and issued a provisional ban on weapons. The rescue took the son to the hospital for wound care, which he was then able to leave again – a clean bullet. The 59-year-old said he hadn’t fired the magazine, but there was probably still a cartridge in the hold when he cleaned the gun.
