No more excuses! We have to clean our bathroom – but with a little discipline and preparation, it only takes 15 minutes.
We admit: There are nicer things than cleaning the house – or especially: than cleaning the bathroom. But if we pull ourselves together for just 15 minutes, bring out our cleaning enthusiasm and quickly get the bathroom cleaning over with, we will feel good afterwards, will be rewarded with a sparkling clean bathroom and have time for nicer things.
Step 1: Have cleaning utensils ready
If you have to look for cleaning supplies and a sponge first, you will never finish. A organized cleaning cabinet is half the battle. We have the most important things to hand (e.g. in a bucket) so that we can get started in no time.
For bathroom cleaning we need: sponge, squeegee, kitchen paper, bathroom cleaner, glass cleaner and cleaning cloth (microfiber cloth).
2nd step: cleaning the mirror (1 minute)
When it comes to bathroom cleaning, we start with something simple: the mirror. It is usually not that dirty and cleaned in no time. Something Glass cleaner (or alternatively, spray detergent and water) on the mirror and with Kitchen paper wipe off.
3rd step: cleaning the sink (2 minutes)
First up are stubborn toothpaste and soap residues. We can scrub them away from the sink with a little bathroom cleaner. If you want to do without acidic chemical clubs, you can use natural cleaners. One of the helpful home remedies is, for example vinegar. Vinegar also helps against Lime stains (If the smell bothers you, open the window and let in fresh air). Quickly wipe the tap with a cleaning cloth soaked in vinegar and limescale has no chance.
If you have time, you can quickly refill the soap dispenser or remove soap residue from the soap dish. The sink is sparkling clean.
4th step: cleaning the toilet (3 minutes)
Cleaning the toilet does not mean making a few circular movements in the toilet bowl with the toilet brush and some toilet cleaner for a clear conscience. That has to be a bit more thorough. First we disinfect it Toilet seat, fold it up and clean it from the bottom. After that we scrub the part on which the Toilet seat rests, then the Toilet bowl. (As a tip for a thorough cleaning: vinegar and citric acid help against urine stone.) Finally, rinse once – and the toilet is clean again!
5th step: cleaning the bathtub / shower (5 minutes)
Clogged drain? Then help vinegar and baking powder. Pour some baking powder down the drain and sprinkle vinegar over it. This foams and clears the drain. So that it doesn't get clogged in the first place: put a sieve over it and remove hair regularly (dear men, this also applies to you!).
Incidentally, baking soda helps against limescale deposits and is also used for the rest of the bathtub or shower cubicle. In general, if you regularly care for and clean your bathtub or shower, you don't have to fight against limescale and mold later. You can find out the best tips and which cleaners help here: Cleaning tiles.
Tip for glass walls in the shower cubicle: After every shower, pull off the water with a squeegee. So there are no water stains.
Step 6: tidy drawers and shelves (2 minutes)
In addition to basic cleaning, clearing out and tidying up is important! All the loose stuff that flies through the bathroom creates chaos and clutter. So we take a moment to take a look in the drawers and shelves and put things back in the right place. Are there enough tampons left? No? Then it will be added to the shopping list.
7th step: cleaning the floor (2 minutes)
Finally we have to mop the floor. Before that we should vacuum cleanerto ask for help. (Of course we don't have to wipe with a damp cloth every time. Often it is enough if we wipe the floor with a cloth and our feet.) Then we take the rubbish with us and then let's get out there.
Important: The humidity in the bathroom is enormous, so we have to ventilate regularly to avoid mold. Here you can find out what to watch out for: ventilate properly.
