Here we reveal which tips, tricks and home remedies you can use to get the shower clean quickly. Limescale stains and dirt no longer stand a chance.

Clean shower? Better to prevent!

Actually, we know it and yet we don't do it: immediately after showering, wipe the tiles and the shower cubicle with a rubber squeegee to prevent limescale and soiling. Regular cleaning helps to remove stubborn stains & Co.

This is how you do it:

  • After showering, rinse tiles and shower walls first with cold water, so that all soap residues are rinsed off.
  • Then remove the walls horizontally with the puller, strip by strip, rub the chrome parts dry with a towel.

Tips for cleaning the shower

Usually just a few home remedies are enough to really clean up our bathroom. With certain materials, such as B. marble, however, one should be careful when using such media. For example, vinegar can lead to corrosion, but lime cleaners would also break it down. Here we show what you should pay attention to when cleaning marble.

Clean shower walls made of glass

Unfortunately, you can quickly see unsightly stains on glass – but there is a trick you can use to get around that! You will need a spray bottle, a rag and: Rinse aid! Originally intended for the dishwasher, the effect also works with your glass shower screen. This is how you do it:

  1. Pour some of the rinse aid into an empty and cleaned spray bottle.
  2. Wet the glass wall with the rinse aid and
  3. spread it evenly with a rag.

Why does this trick work? The rinse aid improves the drying of the dishes in the dishwasher because the non-ionic surfactants it contains reduce the surface tension of the water, making it roll off better. And that works not only with your dishes in the dishwasher, but also with the shower wall ?! This will prevent lime stains from quickly forming again.

Other home remedies for glass walls are:

  • citric acid: Mix a dash of the acid with a bowl of water and spread the mixture on the wall. Rinse with cold water or wipe with a sponge.
  • vinegar: Put some vinegar in a bowl of water and apply the mixture to the wall with a sponge. After an exposure time of up to 20 minutes, rinse with clear water and polish with a cloth.

Tip: These home remedies could possibly be bad for the rubber seals and attack them. As a precaution, only clean them with water or less aggressive cleaning agents.

Clean plastic walls

For plastic walls, you can use Soft soap To fall back on. You apply this with a damp sponge, rub it in and then rinse it off. Finally rub the shower wall dry.

Caution: Only use the sponge with the smooth side, as the walls are sensitive to scratches.

Wash shower curtain

A shower curtain is actually easier to care for than some shower screens! Nevertheless, care should not be neglected. Therefore, you should wash the shower curtain regularly. Some can be washed using the delicate program in the Washing machine to wash. Take a look at the label! Otherwise, these funds will help:

  • citric acid: Mix water and citric acid and apply it to the curtain. Rinse everything off after half an hour of exposure. The acid works well against bacteria and limescale.
  • vinegar: Vinegar also has an antibacterial effect, mix it with water and rub it on the shower curtain. Finally rinse with clean water.

Cleaning tiles

Not only the glass or plastic walls should be cleaned of dirt and stains, we also clean the tiles of course. Suitable home remedies for cleaning tiles:

  • Cleaning with vinegar or vinegar cleaner also unfolds its effect here.
  • Tip: ammonia gives tiles more shine again!

Clean the joints

While tiles are rather easy to care for, grouting can be a tough chunk. The best way to tackle this is with baking powder:

  1. Mix some of the powder with water until you reach a paste-like consistency.
  2. Put this on a damp sponge or an old toothbrush and brush the paste onto the affected areas.
  3. Let it sit for several minutes and then rinse with water.

Instead of baking powder, you can also use baking soda, make sure that the water and soda mix ratio is 3: 1.

Clean fittings

The faucet can also be cleaned with the well-known household remedies vinegar and citric acid. Mix some of the vinegar or citric acid with water and wipe it over the faucet. In the case of particularly stubborn stains, you can also let the mixture take effect and then wipe it over again. Goodbye lime stains!

Remove mold in the bathroom

Mold in the bathroom is dangerous and should definitely be eliminated. You can try to remove the mold with these means:

  • Pure alcohol: Apply the pure alcohol (isopropyl alcohol) from the pharmacy to the mold and brush it in.
  • vinegar: Vinegar can also help against mold (it is better not to use it with silicone!). Apply this diluted with water and leave it on for about half an hour. Then brush off the affected areas again.

Be sure to wear glovesif you use one of these remedies! Both methods remove the mold for the time being, but have no long-term effect. So the black spots can come back! Ideally, mold is prevented right away by drying the corners and fittings of the bathtub and the shower cubicle after showering. In addition, the room should be properly ventilated if possible.
