Why should we clean the washing machine?

  • The washing machine should be regular with a damp cloth from the outside be wiped off – because not only dust, but also detergent residues often stick to the machine.
  • Lint filter and Rubber seal should be cleaned of dirt with a damp cloth and vinegar so that no mold develops.

  • Preventive measures: Always leave the washing machine door and the detergent compartment ajar so that the remaining water can escape.

Home remedies for washing machine cleaning

There are numerous washing machine cleaners for the machines – but we like to do without the chemical clubs. We'll show you which home remedies you can use to easily remove dirt in your washing machines.

  • Citric acid: Citric acid is a natural washing machine cleaner and helps against limescale (by the way, it can also be used to descale kettles). The powder is available in every drugstore. Put five to eight tablespoons of it in the drum and select a washing program at 95 degrees – without laundry. The so-called Whites is necessary to remove all bacteria. By the way, the lemon provides a fresh scent for the next wash cycles.
  • Dishwasher tabs: Dishwasher tablets also clean the inside of the washing machine. Again, carry out an empty wash cycle with a tab at 95 degrees – so bacteria and limescale don't stand a chance. By the way: Dishwasher tablets also help with cleaning the ceramic hob.
  • Baking soda and vinegar: Simply put 50 grams of baking soda in the detergent compartment and 50 milliliters of vinegar in the softener compartment and let it flow through at 60 degrees.
