Cleaning: You definitely haven't cleaned here in ages, bet?

Do you consider yourself a very tidy and clean person? You probably are too. Nevertheless, our author has found one or the other spot that has not seen a feather duster, cleaning rag and Co. in a long time. Do not you think? Then read it!

Once a week, you have to do a major cleaning – you vacuum and scrub and mop so that you could eat off the floor afterwards. Hats off to this discipline! And yet we guarantee that you have not cleaned these 9 places in a long time. It's not bad, but a bit disgusting.

1. Light switch

Zack: light on, zack: light off. How often do we do this a day? And where did we have our hands before we operated the switch? And who even touched the thing like that? It makes sense that a light switch, similar to ATMs or those funny buzzers at the traffic lights, are a refuge for germs and bacteria. So a disinfectant can be wiped past every now and then. Or you can install such great motion detectors everywhere, then you save yourself cleaning the little switches.

2. Laptop and cell phone

Oh, we don't want to know exactly what kind of disgusting things are accumulating in the spaces between the individual keys. It is better to clean regularly and not worry too much about it. The best way to do this is with a dry cotton swab or a microfiber cloth. Carefully wipe the screen with TFT cleaner and that's it.

3. Doormat

Everything that we and our visitors bring with us from outside ends up on the doormat. We'd rather not talk about exactly what all of this is. Regular vacuuming and tapping (outside, of course) minimizes the dirt that is dragged into the apartment.

4. Remote control

Have you ever cleaned them? I don't think we need to go into any more detail at this point about germs, bacteria, leftover food and the traces of greasy chip fingers. But it should also be mentioned that the buttons ensure that the dirt even gets into the inside of the remote control. Beurkzzz.

5. On the kitchen cabinets

You know: You want to get the waffle iron up from the cupboard again and immediately notice the patina that has spread from a mixture of grease and dust on the cupboards. The degreaser urgently needs to be used again. Very urgent.

6. Make-up utensils

The bathroom is probably one of the most cleaned places in the home. But what we are guaranteed to neglect are our make-up utensils. Brushes, jars, flacons and Co. They come very close to us. Brushes in particular should be cleaned regularly with a mild shampoo or special brush cleaner. A brush cleaning mat is also particularly practical. Wipe the flacons, jars and bottles with a damp cloth every now and then – it will look nicer again.

7. Cleaning rags

That really doesn't need any further words, does it? Replace them regularly or put them in the washing machine after cleaning.

8. Plants

They ensure a feel-good atmosphere and a healthy indoor climate in every apartment – provided you can see them under the thick layers of dust. Do something good for your plants and regularly remove dust with a damp cloth or give them a shower. In the end, you'll both benefit from it.

9. Books

Dusting off books is little or even less fun. Somehow the dust seems to like to cling to the paper cut. Unfortunately, too much dust also damages the books. So if you want to have something from them for longer, you have to swing the feather duster for better or worse.
