Actor Cliff Simon had a fatal accident while kitesurfing in California. The "Stargate" actor was only 58 years old.

The South African actor and athlete Cliff Simon is dead. As his wife Colette wrote on her husband's Facebook page, Simon had an accident while kitesurfing on Topanga Beach in California and died on March 9 at the age of 58. Simon is best known for his role in the series "Stargate – Kommando SG-1" as the cynical god Ba'al. In 1984 he also qualified as a swimmer for the Olympic Games in Los Angeles.

His wife wrote in the message that Simon was so much more than just an actor, he was "a real original, adventurer, sailor, swimmer, dancer, author". There is now a gap where he once stood on this earth. Colette gave no information about the exact circumstances of death. It is a mercy for her, however, that he died on the beach and thus near the water that he loved so much.
