Clinic and tourism – debate about crisis bonuses for Salzburg’s country managers

The pandemic has challenged the employees of the Salzburg state clinics. In recognition of this, there were bonus payments of around 2.3 million euros. SALK managing director Paul Sungler received 55,000 euros, the largest bonus payment. Other country managers have also received allowances.

Not all employees can look forward to an extra payment. Of the more than 6,500 employees, 2,126 received a bonus – an average of 1,000 euros.

The biggest piece of the pie went to SALK managing director Paul Sungler. The clinic boss can look forward to a bonus of around 55,300 euros in the Corona year.

The regional clinics also recorded a significant drop in sales in the previous year. Calculated operations in the winter season did not materialize. The operational exit from operations is estimated at around 183 million euros.

The generous crisis bonuses for other country managers also cause debate: 186,000 euros for the board members of Salzburg AG, 26,000 euros for the tourism manager, 17,000 euros for the transport association manager, 15,000 euros for the manager of Salzburg Airport, 84,000 euros for three other employees of the airport, each received around 12,000 euros, the heads of the infrastructure and innovation companies.

The country puts it into perspective: With the exception of Salzburg AG Bonuses, the payments relate to the 2019 financial year – before Corona.
