With its new Buds, CMF seem to want to redefine the entry-level market for true wireless headphones with a product with a solid technical sheet but above all offered at a ridiculous price. The Buds are a sort of little brother of the Buds Pro, previously tested by us and which greatly won us over with their great features which make them excellent value for money.

The resemblance with the Buds Pro starts from the design, almost identical between the two models with a semi-in-ear format with an Apple AirPods-style stem. If the headphones are very close, the round case of the Buds Pro is swapped here for a case similar to that of the Ear (2) but with a completely opaque shell. The headphones are also IP54 certified and therefore resistant to dust and splashing water.

Lighter specs than the Buds Pro

An entry-level product, the technical sheet of the Buds is announced as slightly less solid than that of the Buds Pro. The difference between the two models should be felt first and foremost in terms of noise reduction. CMF announces a maximum attenuation of 42 dB on the Buds compared to 45 dB on the Buds Pro. Completely fanciful values (the Buds Pro never reach 35 dB of attenuation) but which illustrate the superiority of the Buds Pro in this area. Moreover, the latter are equipped with 3 microphones per earphone compared to 2 on the new Buds.

The autonomy is also announced as less important on these Buds compared to the Buds Pro. Here, count on 5.6 hours per charge compared to 6.5 hours on the Pro model. The case should offer around 4 additional charges.

More accomplished sound performances?

On the sound side, however, CMF seems to have stepped up its game compared to the Buds Pro. The new Buds benefit from the Ultra Bass Technology 2.0 system, the new version of the technology to improve bass reproduction also present on the Buds Pro. Equipped with 12.4 mm speakers, the Buds benefit from the expertise of the Dirac laboratory which was responsible for providing the sound adjustment system for the headphones. On paper, therefore, the Buds seem better off than the Buds Pro in terms of sound signature, to be seen in person.

CMF Buds Pro

High-end features at a low price

The great strength of the Buds is that they integrate a number of features, usually reserved for high-end models. This is the case of presence sensors which allow music to be paused when the headphones are removed from the ears, Fast Pair and multipoint functions, a low latency mode or even the presence of a Bluetooth 5.3 chip.

The Buds are announced at 2999 rupees which would give a price of around €34.99 here. If the Buds prove to be as skilled as their big brothers Buds Pro, we could well have the headphones with the best quality/price ratio.
