CNR: Emmanuel Macron continues to defend his “new method”

Jacques Serais

Three months after the launch of the National Council for Refoundation (CNR), representatives of political parties, unions and civil society actors are invited to a new meeting of the CNR, this Monday at the Élysée. The Head of State wants to show that he continues to believe in this new method.

We take the same and start again. Between September and the beginning of December, those who had a critical opinion on the National Council for Refoundation (CNR) did not change their minds. Gérard Larcher the President of the Senate, who had boycotted its launch, will again be absent on Monday. The same goes for the representatives of the opposition parties and the most protesting unions.

Almost nothing has changed. Except that now the Elysée has new arguments: “The CNR has nearly 2,000 field meetings in three months”, boasts a close friend of the President. Health, education, production model… Each time a theme, debates and a conclusion. This Monday, on the program it will be biodiversity, inequalities and public finances.

“Concrete and rapid changes”

Emmanuel Macron is convinced that these CNRs “will produce decisions, concrete and rapid changes, with the means provided for this”. Regardless of the critics, his eyes, this new method “undermines the defenders of corporatism”.

And the agenda owes nothing to chance: at the time of the presentation of the highly contested pension reform on Thursday by Élisabeth Borne, the Head of State has the opportunity here to appear as a defender of dialogue and consultation.
