A co-initiator of the Potsdam secret meeting has been in contact with Sahra Wagenknecht for years – and arranges for her to meet the cabaret artist Volker Pispers, whom she obviously admires. In retrospect, both of them find it disgusting that Mörig ultimately turns out to be a right-wing extremist – Pispers also as a patient.
The cabaret artist Volker Pispers confirms a dinner with the politician Sahra Wagenknecht and the well-known right-wing extremist Gernot Mörig. “Mr Gernot Mörig was my dentist in Düsseldorf,” wrote Pispers when asked by “t-online”. “I can confirm the dinner we had with him and Sahra Wagenknecht.”
He was not aware of Mörig’s political background. “If I had had even the slightest suspicion that he was moving in right-wing extremist or ethnic circles, I would neither have become his patient nor would I have had any other contact with him,” Pispers continued.
Wagenknecht found Pispers interesting
After a meeting between right-wing extremists and AfD officials in Potsdam became known, Wagenknecht, who previously belonged to the Left and now belongs to the BSW party she co-founded, surprisingly admitted contact with one of the initiators, the aforementioned Gernot Mörig.
Mörig contacted her by email in 2013 or 2014, said Wagenknecht on the ZDF talk show “Markus Lanz”. He organized a dinner with the left-wing cabaret artist Volker Pispers in a restaurant. “He (Mörig) wrote me nice emails,” said Wagenknecht. “I wasn’t at all in bad faith that he came from the right-wing scene.” Wagenknecht reported that she was “very happy” to agree to the meeting: “And then we had dinner together.”
“If someone offers me the opportunity to meet a person who I find interesting, who I find highly respectable, then I’m happy about it and then I’ll do it,” Wagenknecht defended himself.
The dentist and lecturer Mörig
Mörig is one of the initiators of a meeting on October 25, 2023 in the Villa Adlon in Potsdam, in which members of the AfD, CDU, Values Union and the identity movement as well as other people took part. A plan to deport asylum seekers, foreigners with the right to remain and “unassimilated” German citizens was discussed. The gathering was uncovered by research network Correctiv, which first reported on it last week.
Mörig practiced as a dentist in Düsseldorf and was also a lecturer at the university there. After students uncovered and reported his ethnic activities, he lost his job six years ago. Since the 1970s, Mörig has been a leading member of the ethnic right-wing extremist scene in Germany.
