Harry Styles, Kanye West and Billie Eilish will headline the Coachella music festival after a two-year pandemic break.
After a two-year break, the Coachella Music Festival returns in April with Harry Styles (27), Billie Eilish (20) and Kanye West (44) as headliners. The organizers announced this on the homepage.
According to this, the former one-direction singer Styles will appear on both Fridays, Eilish on both Saturdays and West, who officially renamed himself Ye last year, will finish the festival on Sundays. It’s the first time Styles has performed at the festival, while Eilish will be the youngest Coachella headliner ever. West was already headlining in 2011, but hasn’t played a set of his own since. In 2015 he appeared as a guest on The Weeknd and in 2019 on Kid Cudi.
Further acts have been announced: Lil Baby, Phoebe Bridgers, rapper Slowthai and the rock band Idles from Bristol will also perform on Friday. Flume, 21 Savage and Megan Thee Stallion are on the program on Saturdays, as is award-winning London artist Arlo Parks. Sundays heat among others Fatboy Slim and the ESC winner Maneskin.
The Swedish House Mafia will also return to Coachella this year.
Two weekends in April
The festival, which takes place in the southern California desert of Indio near Palm Springs, had to be postponed and canceled several times due to the corona pandemic. The new edition is scheduled for the two weekends April 15th to 17th and April 22nd to 24th.
According to the organizers, the first weekend of the festival is already sold out, the advance booking for the second weekend starts on Friday (January 14th).
Travis Scott not there
The 2019 festival attracted almost a quarter of a million people. The 2020 event was scheduled for April of the same year, but was postponed to October and finally canceled due to the global pandemic.
Travis Scott, Frank Ocean and Rage Against The Machine were due to headline the canceled event. Ocean has postponed its Coachella performance until 2023, while Scott was removed from the program following the tragedy of the Astroworld concert in November 2021 – the overcrowding of the Houston festival had resulted in the deaths of ten people.
