Old feud from a new perspective

Cobra Kai, directed by Jon Hurwitz, Josh Heald and Hayden Schlossberg, continues the story of the original ’80s The Karate Kid trilogy more than 30 years later. However, the central protagonist is not the “Karate Kid” of yore, Daniel LaRusso (Ralph Macchio, 61), but his final antagonist Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka, 57). At the start of the series, he was still grappling with LaRusso’s illegal crane kick, which cost him the 1984 championship.

The first two seasons of “Cobra Kai” still appeared on the paid version of YouTube as an in-house production. There, the innovative series blossomed into such a huge hit that streaming service Netflix acquired the rights from season three. Since then, “Cobra Kai” has also enjoyed a loyal fan base there.
