Cobra Kai: “The Karate Kids” – the perfect ending for the Netflix series!

Fans are currently waiting for “Cobra Kai” Season 5 and an end to the Netflix series is not yet in sight. But of course that doesn’t stop fans from imagining a wonderful ending for “Cobra Kai”. And one theory involves Daniel (Ralph Macchio) and Johnny (William Zabka) starting a dojo together.

So far, so flat. Such an ending certainly seems logical to many viewers. But the theory goes further and demands that the two name their dojo “The Karate Kids”. What sounds like a cheesy idea turns out to be a massive meta-joke that fits the series’ tone perfectly.

The first season of “Cobra Kai” was announced as “The Karate Kid Legacy”. But who is actually the Karate Kid? In the movies it appears to be Daniel, but the show turns the tables and focuses on Johnny as well.

This is a meta gag most notably made famous by ‘How I Met Your Mother’. Which of the two is the Karate Kid? It’s all a matter of perspective and it underscores every season of Cobra Kai so far.

Both stumble into new adventures while overcoming old traumas. Again and again parallels between Daniel and Johnny are shown and one always hopes that the two will work together. It would be an undignified finale if the two didn’t eventually reconcile.

In Season 4, the two couldn’t get along. Part of the reason for this was the banality of not being able to agree on a dojo name. With “The Karate Kids” they would live up to the “Karate Kid” legacy, because both Found Karate Kids a common dojo

In addition, the dojo title also underlines the passing of the baton on a meta level, because the karate kids from the 80s train together a new generation of karate kids: Miguel (Xolo Mariduena), Sam (Mary Mouser), Robby (Tanner Buchanan) , Tory (Peyton List) and Co.

All ten episodes of the fifth season of “Cobra Kai” will be released on September 9, 2022 on Netflix’s New Arrivals program. Of course, fans are hoping to see some returnees from the “Karate Kid” film series.
