  • The Netflix series Cobra Kai regularly brings back Karate Kid characters, including Chozen.
  • In “Karate Kid 2” Chozen and Daniel fight – and Chozen doesn’t stand a chance. However, in “Cobra Kai” things are different.
  • Now fans are wondering why Chozen is suddenly so much better than it was in the 80s. The explanation can be found in the series.

“Cobra Kai” is one of the most popular Netflix series and continues the iconic “Karate Kid” film series from the 80s. Fans are currently waiting for “Cobra Kai” season 5 and in the new episodes “Karate Kid 2” villain Chozen (Yuji Okumoto) will play a bigger role than before.

Chozen made his debut on “Cobra Kai” in Season 3 when Daniel (Ralph Macchio) travels to Japan. There, the former enemies are reconciled by pondering Miyagi-Do’s legacy together. In a short fight between the two, Chozen shows his skills and is superior to Daniel.

No wonder Daniel brings Chozen back at the end of Season 4 to put a stop to Terry Silver (Thomas Ian Griffith) and Cobra Kai. Chozen is probably the best fighter in the “Cobra Kai” universe at the moment. But how did this happen, in “Karate Kid 2” he was clearly inferior to Daniel.

The series provides the explanation. While Daniel, Johnny (William Zabka), Silver and Kreese (Martin Kove) have all quit karate at least for a while between “The Karate Kid” and “Cobra Kai,” Chozen is relentless about himself, his karate approach, and the principles of Miyagi-Do worked.

In over 30 years of self-discipline you logically become a gifted fighter and now is the time to show your full potential and put your karate skills to good use. Will there be a fight between Chozen and Terry Silver?

“Cobra Kai” Season 5 will begin streaming on Netflix’s What’s New program on September 9, 2022. All ten episodes of the season will of course be released in one go, so you can binge the entire season in one go.
