Coca-Cola signs a $1 billion partnership with Microsoft to use its AI services

The two American giants, Microsoft and Coca-Cola, have just signed a major partnership. And which will bind them for several years.

Services developed by Microsoft such as its generative AI Copilot or Azure cloud services are not reserved for consumers. The American giant can also be essential for companies, and even the largest, as we can see with the contract which has just been signed between the firm founded by Bill Gates and the soft drink giant, Coca-Cola.

Microsoft and Coca-Cola, the partnership of giants

Nice publicity for Microsoft that the new contract which has just been made official. The American giant has just signed a partnership with Coca-Cola worth a colossal 1.1 billion dollars (around 1.03 billion euros). This new signed contract runs for a period of five years.

The two companies are not new to this. They had already signed a similar contract in 2020, giving Coca-Cola access to several of Microsoft’s tools such as Dynamics 365, Microsoft 365 and Azure services, a contract then worth $250 million. The partnership that has just been signed is thus much more substantial, and will also open the soft drinks giant to newer tools.

AI could help Coca-Cola in several of its key businesses

Indeed, this agreement with Coca-Cola covers not only Azure cloud services, but also all new generative AI tools developed by Microsoft. The objective is to use them in Coca-Cola’s daily activities, in sectors such as marketing or supply chains, in order to generate productivity gains.

The company is currently exploring the use of digital assistants powered by generative AI on Azure OpenAI Service to help employees improve customer experiences, streamline operations, drive innovation, gain competitive advantage, to drive efficiency and uncover new growth opportunities » indicates the press release. An approach for the future?
