Coffee alternatives: These pick-me-ups will give you a kick

Nothing works without coffee! But somehow the pick-me-up no longer works like it used to? Something new is needed. Maybe these alternatives will knock you out again?

A caffeine junkie too? In the morning it takes a big pot of coffee so that we mutate back from a zombie to an at least semi-functional person. Two more cups later to get through the midday low. And in the afternoon a double espresso with colleagues. Quite a penny, isn't it?

Anyone who gets on the stomach (acid issue) or has a racing heart can rely on these healthy pick-me-up alternatives.

1. Mushroom coffee "Chagaccino"

In terms of pleasure, we might have to make a few compromises here, but the effect is all the better. Chaga mushrooms are natural stimulants, promote concentration and thus help you to cope with the nasty midday depth. Dissolve chaga powder in hot water or mix with warm milk to give the brain cells a small kick in the buttocks.

2. Ginger-lemon tea

Sour makes fun! The classic is often underestimated, but the bitter substances push. Not quite as strong as caffeine, but the gentle variant is also not a bad choice for in between. Another plus point: The tea contains a lot of vitamin C – it's healthy!

3. Ginseng tea

Did we just hear gin? Joking aside. We're talking about ginseng tea, but the effect is similar – perks you up. In Chinese culture, the root is also used to strengthen the immune system. And: It helps with weakness and poor concentration. Bingo!

4. Mate tea

Suddenly the hipster students prick up their ears. Mate has certainly already brought one or the other through hard nights in the exam phase. Why do students swear by the pick-me-up alternative? The mate bush has a very high caffeine content, but its composition makes it slower, longer and stronger than coffee. Means: Can easily be drunk more often a day.

5. Guarana

All the teas are for wimps? Real junkies drink guarana. Three grams of it contains as much caffeine as three cups of coffee. That makes the hearts of the coffeeholics beat faster. Literally! It should be noted that too much of a good thing can lead to palpitations, sleep problems or headaches. Sorry, we're slowing down fun right now.

6. Matcha latte

You're more like Team Latte Macchiato. Coffee is less functional, more enjoyable. Then a Matcha Latte is needed. Delicious! The Japanese miracle stuff can also wake you up. The ingredient combination of caffeine, theanine and the tannin tannin gives you a boost for several hours. In addition, the hot drink is damn Instagram-worthy. Just on the edge.
