When he noticed that the water was already boiling but there was no coffee in it, he wasn’t in despair. He poured the coffee powder into the simmering hot water and noticed that although the ground beans sank into the water, they soon began to move on the surface of the water. And so he had to look for something that would push the coffee powder in the cup to the bottom. He bought a piece of metal from a passing Italian salesman and used it to press the powder down to the bottom of the cup.
