Coiling Dragon Cliff Skywalk: engineering at the highest level

Six centimeters of glass are said to protect visitors from a 1400 meter drop. You couldn’t think much. Perhaps that is why many adventurers are drawn to Zhangjiajie National Forest Park. You want to venture onto the Coiling Dragon Cliff Skywalk, which winds around the rocks.

The Skywalk was opened in 2016. Since then, visitors can enjoy the spectacular view on a 1.60 meter wide glass path. The bridge had to be designed so that it not only withstood the weight of the pedestrians, but also the strong high winds. Three layers of special glass are designed to provide support and security.

More thrills

In winter this cannot be guaranteed with ice and snow, which is why the bridge is not accessible in bad weather. But don't be afraid, there are alternatives: with the longest glass bridge in the world, vertigo-free people are sure to be compensated. The suspension bridge is also in the province of Hunan and at 430 meters long it offers enough space for adventurers. Here, too, visitors should be free from giddiness: It's 300 meters deep!
