(AOF) – Colas Rail, leader of a 50/50 consortium with Eiffage Énergie Systèmes, has won the contract awarded by the Société du Grand Paris for the traction system to supply electricity to the metro trains on line 18 , major axis of the Grand Paris Express over 35 kilometers between Orly airport and Versailles Chantiers station. The total amount of the contract is 26 million euros.

The contract includes carrying out the execution and summary studies, the supply of equipment, installation and connection work, testing and commissioning. Management and project management, internal and external coordination, handling of interfaces as well as training and spare lots are also part of the contract won by the consortium.

The equipment includes traction distribution installations for an operations centre, 15 rectifying stations, 7 sub-sectioning stations, 2 installations for traction logic as well as 140 kilometers of traction cable. They will supply the trains on line 18 with energy via a third rail and associated automatic safety devices.

The study phase began in January 2022. The first works, which will start by mid-2023, will take place in three phases between 2023 and 2027 to ensure gradual commissioning until 2030.

“This significant operation on behalf of the Société du Grand Paris demonstrates the expertise of Colas Rail and its partner Eiffage Énergie Systèmes in the electric traction business. It is an ambitious project, promoting soft mobility in the Ile-de-France region”, explains Jean-François Milleron, Deputy Managing Director France Colas Rail.

“This award strengthens our presence on the Greater Paris infrastructure “systems” markets, by drawing on our know-how in the traction energy and safety automation businesses. The teams are fully mobilized with our partner Colas Rail, in an integrated structure, to meet the challenges of bringing the 18 line into service”, adds Olivier Miens, Deputy Managing Director of Eiffage Énergie Systèmes.
