Colas: construction of the new Alexandria metro


(CercleFinance.com) – Colas Rail, in a consortium with Orascom Construction, has won the project to build the new Alexandria metro in Egypt from the National Authority for Tunnels (NAT).

The total amount of this contract amounts to 1.3 billion euros, including 320 million for Colas Rail.

This new metro line will connect the city center of Alexandria, Egypt’s second city, to the town of Aboukir, located in the northeast of the city. With a total length of 22 km, it will serve 20 stations.

Colas Rail, jointly with Orascom Construction, will carry out the studies, supply, installation, testing and commissioning of the railway track, power supply, signaling, telecommunications, depot equipment as well as the integration of all rail systems.
