In 2009, the debut of the music video for the song Paparazzi (from the album The Fame) pays obvious homage to Cold Sweats. It features the oh so recognizable spiral motif from Alfred Hitchcock’s thriller, when Lady Gaga is thrown over the balcony by her boyfriend (from 01:55 in the video below).
Two years later, the music video for the song Born This Way (from the album of the same name) begins with the main theme of Cold Sweats, composed by Bernard Herrmann. The proof below.
It should also be noted that Lady Gaga, seen recently on the poster for Ridley Scott’s House of Gucci, pays homage to Cold Sweats, but also to Psychosis and Rear Window (psychology and rear window in original version), other Hitchcock classics, in the lyrics of the song Bad Romance.
In Bad Romance, song from the album The Fame Monster, we can thus hear the American star sing “I want your psycho, your vertigo shtick / Want you in my rear window / Baby you’re sick”.
