Salaried employees in the private insurance industry will receive more money in two stages. Employers speak of an above-average increase in order to increase the attractiveness of the industry. The union is satisfied.

In the collective bargaining dispute in the private insurance industry, employers and trade unions have reached an agreement. According to this, the wages for the more than 162,000 office workers in the industry will increase by 3.0 percent from September 1, 2022 and by a further 2.0 percent from September 1, 2023, as announced by the employers’ association AGV and the trade union DBV. The Verdi union initially did not comment.

With this year’s May salary, all employees will also receive a one-time payment of EUR 550 and with the May salary for 2023, a one-off additional payment of EUR 500. The remuneration for trainees will also be increased. The term of the new collective agreement is 26 months until the end of March 2024. According to the information, the trainees will benefit from two increases of 50 euros each from September 2022 and September 2023 as well as a one-time increase of 300 euros in May and another 250 euros in May 2023.

According to AGV, employers were “ready for an above-average increase in order to underline the attractiveness of the industry as a provider of high-quality training”. The chief negotiator for the German Association of Bank Employees (DBV), Ute Beese, spoke of a good conclusion.

According to the employers, the tariff package agreed after three rounds of negotiations affects around 172,000 office employees including trainees, the DBV spoke of 162,700 employees in the insurance office.
