colossal global sales for FromSoftware’s game

In just three weeks, Elden Ring sold more copies than Dark Souls 3 in four years. Studio CEO Hidetaka Miyazaki and the rest of the team are blown away.

In Europe, Elden Ring is a real hit, especially among PC gamers. But ultimately, this success is truly global and exceeds anything FromSoftware had been able to experience with previous souls games. Since its release, the game has sold over 12 million copies worldwide.

The triumph of FromSoftware

More than 12 million copies on consoles and PC, these are the first official sales figures disclosed by Bandai Namco. It is therefore normal to see the teams rejoicing at this “fantastic start to the new franchise”.

Hidetaka Miyazaki, CEO of FromSoftware, can’t believe it himself:

It’s mind blowing how many people have played Elden Ring. I would like to express our sincere thanks on behalf of the entire development team. Elden Ring is based on a mythological story written by George RR Martin. We hope players enjoy a high level of freedom as they venture into this vast world, explore the many secrets, and face the many threats. Thank you for your continued support.

Yasuo Miyakawa, CEO of Bandai Namco Entertainment, also wrote his thanks for the occasion:

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all our fans who have welcomed Elden Ring into their collection of video games. I am very proud to have been part of creating such a wonderful and fantastic game with FromSoftware, under the direction of director Miyazaki, and with George RR Martin. A lot of effort has gone into creating Elden Ring and exceeding the expectations of our fans around the world. With the same goal, we will continue our efforts to grow the brand beyond the game itself and into everyone’s daily lives.. We will continue to provide fun and fulfillment through entertainment so that we can connect with our fans around the world.

Half-worded, Miyakawa-san hints that there will most definitely be a Elden Ring 2 and other things to exploit the vein. Goodies have invaded the market and why not transmedia projects?

Elden Ring knocks out Dark Souls 3 and all the others

In three weeks, the game co-developed with the creator of Game of Thrones has therefore outperformed its predecessors. Until now, the record was held by Dark Souls 3 and its 10 million sales. An impressive score, certainly, but which was carried out over a period of four years… compared to less than a month.

In any case, FromSoftware’s bet seems to have been the right one and this time the title requirement does not seem to have been a barrier to purchase.

Did you have time to flip Elden Ring all over the place? Do you understand praise and business performance? Do you find fault with this new proposal? Tell us everything in comments.
