Behind its refined aesthetic, not to say minimalist, Atone: Heart of the Elder Tree is many things. It is first of all the story of Estra’s journey, crisscrossing the mythological kingdom of Midgard abandoned by the gods, who will seek to shed light on the disappearance of her father, the last great leader of a now scattered humanity.
A journey punctuated by difficult decisions to be made for the player and an adventure that emphasizes both storytelling and the resolution of enigmas and puzzles of all kinds. On the fighting side, Atone: Heart of the Elder Tree relies on a system similar to that of a rhythm game, Wildboy Studios even summoning the names of Guitar Hero and Dance Dance Revolution to illustrate his bias.
The developer, backed by publisher Untold Tales, has just announced the release of its title on Switch and PC in the course of next year, while a demo is already available on Steam.
