Comedy series, TV movies, documentaries… New releases from France Télévisions for 2023

In an interview at Parisianprogram director Anne Holmes lifts the veil on a few programs scheduled to hit the airwaves in 2023. Starting with documentaries: In the eyes of Thomas Pesquet“where we will discover through his eyes the biodiversity of metropolitan France and overseas”.

An adaptation of Gravediggers

And also : Gays in France (there was Blacks in France), We workers, like the doc We peasants, very big audience success at the time. And finally, two evenings will be devoted to the broadcast of a documentary on the Outreau Affair. Other novelties: fictions. France Télévisions will adapt the book by journalist Victor Castanet, The gravediggers. An investigation into the Ehpad Orpea which made a lot of noise, and which also allowed its author to receive the Albert London prize last week.

Isabelle Adjani in a new fiction directed by Josée Dayan

Another planned fiction: a TV movie by Josée Dayan, already director of Captain Marleau and the recent Diane de Poitiers series on France Télévisions. She will find Isabelle Adjani to shoot Goodbye vinyls, the story of “a singer on the return who will be dethroned by a young performer”. And then last announcement: an entertainment program will be broadcast on France TV, The great evening of cabarets, co-presented by Nicky Doll and Stéphane Bern.

France TV would like to broadcast a weekly comedy series

In this same interview with Parisian, Anne Holmes also talks about the projects that are being considered, those that will or will not see the light of day. Like the television adaptation of 1,000 euro game of France Inter. It is being studied… There is also a project around humour: a “comic format in which three comedians will come and discuss a subject”. Anne Holmes says she is working on it with Arthur.

And, still around humor, France Télévisions is also looking for a weekly comedy series that it will broadcast next fall. The public group received about thirty proposals. Now we have to decide. Also being considered: what time to broadcast season 2 of Drag Race France, the drag queens contest? And why not in prime time? Following the success of the first season. This season was originally intended for a digital-only platform. France 2 had offered the first episode on its channel to give it a little boost for the launch.

And, given the good audience, the channel had finally decided to offer the whole season but with a broadcast very late at night. Why not provide better exposure in the second season? A few weeks ago, the number 2 of France Télévisions, Stéphane Sitbon Gomez had affirmed, in Culture Mediathat season 2 of drag racewould be broadcast in the second half of the evening. Obviously, this could even be an even better exhibition if the show has the honors of the prime. Release is scheduled before June 2023.
