Coming soon to the cinema: Austin Butler and Tom Hardy as badass bikers in the trailer for The Bikeriders

Jodie Comer, Austin Butler and Tom Hardy star in Jeff Nichols’ new film The Bikeriders. Inspired by real events, this story dedicated to a biker gang from the 60s can be seen in theaters from June 19.

After the triumph of Dune: Part II, and the broadcast of the Masters of the Air series, also successful, Austin Butler continues his momentum this year and returns to the cinema from June 19 to appear in the film The Bikeriders. This feature film, which promises to be particularly intense based on the first images, follows the rise of a gang of Midwestern bikers in the 1960s.

Screenwriter and director Jeff Nichols, to whom we owe Mud – On the Banks of the Mississippi, Take Shelter and Loving, focuses here on the famous figure of the American biker. It is inspired by the photography book by Danny Lyon, who himself followed a real group of bikers from 1963 to 1967.

On screen, Austin Butler plays the indomitable Benny, a member of the Vandals, a fictional Chicago club initially thought to be a gathering of local misfits but which quickly becomes much more dangerous. At the head of this gang, the implacable Johnny is played by the brilliant Tom Hardy, who also surprised his co-star on the set.

“I imagined him as a grizzly bear, always serious. And actually, he’s one of the funniest people I’ve ever met. He jokes around until someone yells ‘action’ and then he becomes the most intense guy ever,” Austin Butler told Josh Brolin as part of a discussion between the two actors for Interview Magazine.

Jodie Comer (Killing Eve, The Last Duel), also headlining The Bikeriders, plays Kathy, a young woman who falls under Benny’s spell and seems to be the narrator of the story. Mike Faist, Michael Shannon, Damon Herriman and Norman Reedus complete the film’s cast.

Hit the road with the Vandals in The Bikeriders, in theaters June 19.
