NFL draft moves German talent to tears

He’s living his dream: Brandon Coleman makes the jump to the NFL. The German-American is drafted by the Washington Commanders. His pick leaves the 23-year-old “speechless”.
The German-American Brandon Coleman has made the jump to the US football league NFL. The Washington Commanders selected the offensive tackle from Berlin third overall in the third round of talent selection in Detroit. Overall, Coleman was the 67th pick in the draft. After his selection, he lay crying in his mother’s arms.
“I’m so grateful to have this opportunity. I’m going to celebrate with my family and a few friends from Germany – and then it’s time to get to work. I’m speechless,” said the 23-year-old, who most recently played for the college. The team from Texas Christian University in Fort Worth appeared on RTL. Coleman served as captain of the team during his final year of college. In 2022, his team made it to the college championship final.
Coleman’s mother is German, his father is American. Born in Texas, he also grew up in Berlin and finally moved to the USA at the age of 15. There he initially hoped for a career as a basketball player before concentrating entirely on football. As an offensive tackle, Coleman’s job is to protect his own quarterback.
In Washington, Coleman will primarily support the new quarterback Jayden Daniels, who was taken second in the draft. “It’s going to be great. I’m looking forward to learning from these talents,” he said. “The coaches and players I’ve already met are super cool. I’m happy that I ended up in Washington.” The Commanders missed the playoffs for the third time in a row last season and last won a playoff game in 2005.
Defensive lineman Julius Welschof, on the other hand, has to hope for a later of the seven scheduled draft rounds.
