“Commercial soup”, “smooth version”: Pierre (Star Academy) reacts to criticism of his first single

Released this Wednesday, February 7 on all streaming platforms, Pierre Garnier’s first single, “Ceux qu’on été”, is not unanimous on social networks. The big winner of the Star Academy reacts in our columns.

Barely out of the castle, he is already on all platforms! Sacred big winner of the Star Academy 2023 last Saturday, Pierre Garnier unveiled his first official single this Wednesday, February 7: Those we were. But while the title has had undeniable success in an acoustic version since Pierre sang it at the castle, the studio version of the ballad does not completely seduce fans of the singer with the hoarse voice. “The arrangement of the single is a tasteless commercial soup who has lost all the force of the words of your song”, protests an Internet user on the social network Instagram. “I just listened, I was impatiently waiting for it, but we see that it has been reworked, it is too fast and as a result it loses its emotion”, analyzes a second, estimating that “the prime and castle version was much more beautiful”.

During an exclusive interview with Télé Star, Pierre reacted to these few criticisms. “It’s normal. I can understand, he told us. People have gotten used to hearing me play it acoustically at the castle and there, it’s very different. They’re not used to it, but that’s normal.” For his part, the young 21-year-old from Normandy admits to being very satisfied with this first studio version, which he partly composed himself. “The production already existed a little bit, I had already composed it before. It was a bit like that. Afterwards, they reworked it during my absence, so I listened to it and I changed a lot of things to get closer to the original which I found very good. It’s a mix of the two and I find it so good. I am very happy with the result. It’s certainly a different version, but I really like it. I’m very happy that it came out like that.”

“I will release the acoustic version to delight everyone”

Let the fans rest assured, an acoustic version of Those we were should be released soonand very likely appear on the artist’s highly anticipated album. “I really want to do an acoustic version, which will also be released, he tells us. It was necessary to make a produced version but I will do the acoustic version to delight everyone (laughing).” It now remains to be seen which of the two versions will be sung during the Star Academy tour, which will begin on March 9. “I have no idea how the tour will go at the moment, but maybe I’ll play it acoustically…”, he confides. To be continued!
