The textile discounter Primark has so far relied on purely stationary business in Germany. The fact that the business model has mostly turned out to be profitable for the group can be guessed from the fact that in the history of the company in Germany, none of the open branches have had to be closed again.
However, that should now change: As Primark revealed to “Textilwirtschaft.de”, two branches in this country will be closed in 2023. These are the locations in Weiterstadt and Schlossstraße in Berlin. According to the information, the leases will not be extended as of January 31, 2023 or April 30, 2023.
The group justifies the step with the fact that “both locations are no longer attractive for Primark”. This resulted in “standard routine checks”. The employees of the two branches have therefore already been informed about the closures.

Especially in the course of the corona crisis, the stationary business of many fashion chains had suffered, which also resulted in branch closures at Orsay, among other things.
According to a Reuters report, Primark will offer a completely overhauled online shop in Great Britain at the end of March – other markets are to follow in the autumn. However, this does not appear to be a real online marketplace. On the website, Primark will probably focus more on the so-called click-and-collect principle, which has become increasingly popular during the pandemic.
