Commerzbank: ECB raises its capital requirements


(CercleFinance.com) – Commerzbank announced on Monday that the European Central Bank (ECB) had increased its capital requirements in the run-up to the 2024 financial year.

The second largest German bank in terms of market capitalization indicates that it has been notified by the ECB that its capital requirement under Pillar 2 (‘Pillar 2’, P2R) would be set at 2.25% from January 1 .

The requirement for the CET1 ratio, a key measure of the financial solidity of banking establishments, stands at 10.27%, knowing that Commerzbank posted a CET1 ratio of 14.6% at the end of September.

‘We therefore continue to have comfortable room for maneuver to significantly increase, as planned, the remuneration in the form of capital to our shareholders in the years to come,’ said its financial director, Bettina. Orlopp.
