commissioning the meter will cost less from August 2023

If you don’t yet have a Linky meter in your home, Enedis’ recent announcement should please you. Indeed, the network manager has indicated that the commissioning costs of the box should drop by August. For now, the installation costs users €13.94.

Despite all the resistance it may encounter, the Linky meter is now installed in more than 36 million households. In fact, there are as many users who have had to pay the sum of €13.94, which corresponds to the cost of commissioning the box. It should however be noted that this tariff was not set by Enedis, but by the Energy Regulation Commission (CRE).

However, the whole interest of the Linky meter is its “turnkey” side, that is to say the fact that it does not require any intervention on the part of the user since it is directly connected to Enedis. Also, the box does not require any intervention on the part of a technician to be activated, the operation being able to be done remotely by the network manager. What to wonder if this one is really worth the 13.94 € present on the invoice.

Enedis will lower the commissioning price of the Linky meter

A question that probably arises from the remaining 3.8 million households waiting for the installation of their meter. And they are obviously not the only ones. Enedis itself seems to realize that it is pointless to charge so much for commissioning. Thus, the organization announced last week that the cost of the operation will drop by next August for all users who will receive the yellow box.

“Everyone is going to agree that it has to go down. Should it go down a lot or a lot, that’s the question.”, said Christophe Gro, regulation director of Enedis. The manager should thus communicate on the thing in the months to come. Moreover, we remind you that if the installation of the meter is not compulsory, you will still have to pay €5 per month to Enedis to take the reading of your meter.
