Compagnie de Saint Gobain: Photovoltaic to power Călăraşi

Good weather for renewable energies: Saint-Gobain Romania and ENGIE Romania sign a partnership to build the largest photovoltaic park in the country. A 140,000 m2 park, comprising more than 15,000 solar panels, entirely dedicated to supplying the Călăraşi industrial site.

ENGIE, a reference in low-carbon energy, is mobilizing the expertise of its Romanian teams to offer a green and tailor-made solution to Saint-Gobain. The energy park announces a maximum power of 8.6 megawatts peak (MWp). Enough to produce up to 14,000 megawatt-hours (MWh) each year, or the average annual consumption of 1,500 homes!

This carbon-free energy will provide 20% of the needs of the Călăraşi glass manufacturing plant and will reduce the site’s carbon footprint by 2,400 tonnes per year.

In a dynamic and volatile market, this sustainable initiative also allows independence and predictability in terms of energy. An exemplary partnership that meets the common objectives of ENGIE and Saint-Gobain for carbon neutrality.
