Companies would be the “first affected” in the event of energy “rationing”, warns Elisabeth Borne

The Prime Minister, Elisabeth Borne, estimated, Monday, August 29, in a speech before the Medef, that companies “would be the first affected” in case of “rationing” energy, adding that “Unfortunately we have to prepare for it”.

Mme Borne thus invited companies to establish in September “sobriety plans” energy, consisting of reducing consumption by 10%, in order to prevent the government from imposing “low consumption”.

“Each company must mobilize and act. I therefore call on everyone to establish their own sobriety plan in September.said the Prime Minister in front of the bosses, giving them “see you early October” to shoot a “first review” of these energy saving plans.

In her speech, the Prime Minister affirmed that the government was working on the trail of a “market for the exchange of rights to consume” and considered possible “adapted support measures” for some companies. Faced with climate change and soaring energy prices, the head of government called for “collective responsibility” in terms of energy savings, because it “we must act faster and stronger”.

“The time is no longer for half measures, the time is no longer for every man for himself, the time is for collective responsibility”she said, inviting the State, companies and individuals to “prefer chosen savings rather than suffered cuts”.
