The government is not going to include a health pass for businesses in its draft law on the vaccination pass. Invited on Europe Matin Wednesday, the Minister of Labor Elisabeth Borne said she wanted to continue discussions with the unions and assured not to exclude an amendment in Parliament.

The government is not going to include a health pass for businesses in its bill on the vaccine pass, but will let parliamentarians possibly table an amendment to this effect. Invited to Europe Matin on Wednesday, the Minister of Labor Elisabeth Borne said she wanted to “continue discussions” with the players in the sector and does not rule out an amendment in Parliament.

An amendment by parliamentarians not excluded

“It is important that we can continue the exchanges but this will not be provided for in the initial bill,” assured the minister. “I mentioned the hypothesis of a health pass in a company, that is to say asking employees to be vaccinated, cured of Covid or to be tested to go to work. Trade unions do not are not in favor and the employers’ organizations have expressed reservations and asked questions about the operational modalities, “she detailed.

But Elisabeth Borne assured it, she wishes “to continue the exchanges with the unions”. “We do not know what the situation will be in ten days and the possible measures that we will have to take. So I wish to continue the exchanges with the employers’ and trade union organizations and we will see if the parliamentarians consider that it is relevant to l ‘introduce by amendment. “

Two million employees already affected

For the Minister of Labor, we would indeed not be in the unknown since we already have experience of the health pass in professions in contact with the public, namely in restaurants or hotels. “We already have a small-scale experience since the start of the school year since 2 million employees or public officials must present a health pass to go to work,” she said.

“We saw that it went without difficulty, it was put in place and we had no feedback telling us about difficulties”, insisted Elisabeth Borne. “In addition, it exists in Germany or Italy so I think it is important that we can continue the exchanges but that will not be provided for in the initial bill.”
