With a bottom line very good performance, the Huawei FreeBuds Pro 2 convince in the CHIP test laboratory. The in-ear headphones get top marks in terms of sound quality, comfort and equipment.
With the FreeBuds Pro 2, Huawei wants to offer an equivalent counter-model to the Apple AirPods (Pro). This also works well in parts – but you have to put up with a few shortcomings compared to the Apple model.
Like the AirPods, the Huawei FreeBuds Pro 2 come with active noise cancellation, ear detection, and pressure and touch controls. In addition, pop-up connections are possible with Huawei devices. In terms of sound, the upper class in-ears are convincing, especially the rich bass and the beautiful treble and voices score well. The battery has a good runtime: With ANC, we measure a time of almost three hours before the plugs have to be put back in the case. There, a charging time of 15 minutes is enough to set it up again for a playback time of 02:40 hours without ANC or 02:05 hours with ANC.
The Huawei FreeBuds Pro 2 are very good overall, but not perfect. It bothers us that the rubber attachments keep getting stuck and turning inside out when you take them out. We also found the audible adjustment of the sound after a short delay irritating.
