In the RTL format “Competition in 4 Walls”, duos compete against each other in construction challenges. A couple should be known to many TV viewers.

The new RTL show “Competition in 4 Walls – The Ultimate Construction Challenge” starts on Tuesday, July 25, at prime time at 8:15 p.m. on RTL (and on RTL+). The participants have to set up an apartment in pairs and have six weeks to do so. A pair of candidates attracts special attention.

Painter and varnisher Peter Klein (56) and actress Yvonne Woelke (41) face the challenge. As part of the show, they describe themselves as “very good friends,” as RTL announced. The two have been making headlines since the beginning of the year because Peter’s wife Iris Klein (56) accused them of having an affair on the edge of the RTL jungle camp. The Kleins then separated, although Peter and Yvonne had repeatedly emphasized that they were not a couple and that nothing had happened between them. The rumors of love have not subsided to this day.

In addition to Peter and Yvonne, three other teams are taking part: Influencer and reality TV actress Sandra (22, “Love Island”, “Temptation Island VIP”, “Prominent Separated”) with mother Ines (56), both passionate hobby craftswomen, the renovation-savvy couple Nadja and Marcel (40 and 39, content creator and branch manager) and the two friends carpenter Julian (35) and fitter David (36).

“The nerves were on edge”

The RTL program, of which six episodes are to be broadcast every Tuesday, is presented by the interior designer and TV presenter Eva Brenner (47), who became known primarily for “Zuhause im Glück” (2005 – 2019). All four then compete against each other in building challenges. The aim is to turn six room shells into a perfect dream apartment. The teams have six weeks to do this.

During this time, all couples stay on the construction site 24 hours a day – including eating and sleeping. The three-person jury made up of “Hot oder Schrott” icon Detlef Steves (54), retail design consultant Kristina Ströh and architect Alexander Pieper examines the results. “In the first few weeks, a team always has to leave the house after the jury has judged their room to be the worst,” explains Brenner in the RTL interview. “In the end, the goal is €50,000 and with all the framework conditions, it really is a mammoth task and the candidates reached their limits. There were a lot of tears, nerves were on edge.”

Overall, however, she is still positively impressed by what the individual teams have proven and delivered. “I didn’t expect that. And it’s also a blessing that with all the pressure and tools used, no one was seriously injured.”
