FDP gives Spahn complicity in the vaccination certificate chaos

“It would have been associated with less effort for the citizen and also safer if the QR code could have been transmitted directly since the start of the vaccination campaign,” said the FDP politician of the newspaper. “With timely action through the implementation of a digital vaccination pass, as the FDP parliamentary group already demanded in 2019 – long before the pandemic – the entire subsequent effort would not have been necessary,” she added.
On Wednesday, the German Pharmacists’ Association blocked the Internet portal for creating digital vaccination certificates for thousands of pharmacies due to a security gap. According to a report by the “Handelsblatt”, two IT security specialists managed to access the vaccination record portal unnoticed and issue valid certificates.
The association told the Handelsblatt that there was “no evidence of other unauthorized access” until Thursday afternoon. However, according to a report by the news portal “Watson”, fake vaccination certificates have already appeared on the Darknet. According to the “Handelsblatt”, the path for the vaccination certificates via the pharmacies was not originally planned. It was set up at short notice due to the time pressure on the project.
