If you’re thinking about buying a Windows 11 PC, you might just be among the early adopters a brand new keyboard key. This is what Microsoft announced in a press release on Thursday January 4, 2024. With this key, Microsoft is taking a further step towards artificial intelligence since it will be dedicated to the Copilot service, an artificial aid which was presented at the beginning of 2023. The first PC models that will offer this new touch will be offered for sale from February 2024. Copilot is an assistive artificial intelligence, which will be integrated into all Microsoft software. But then, what is this tool for? What changes for Windows users? It is a tool, which works on the basis of ChatGPT, will be a real assistant for users of these PCs.

Be more efficient at work

The goal of Copilot is to help users optimize their work. Indeed, by being integrated into the Microsoft Office suite (which therefore includes Word, Excel, or Powerpoint), it can offer to generate texts in Word, integrate more efficient formulas in Excel or even automatically generate PowerPoint presentations. So how does this button work? All you have to do is simply press it. This will request an action from ChatGpt according to the user’s wishes, such as writing an email, creating an image, or creating a slideshow. This key will replace the current “Menu” key. “The introduction of the Copilot key is the first significant change to our computer keyboards in nearly three decades. Nearly 30 years ago, we introduced the Windows key to our computer keyboards, which enabled people around the world interact with Windows”explained Yusuf Mehdi, head of marketing at Microsoft, in the press release. “We see this as a new level for our experience with Windowswhere Copilot will be the entry point for artificial intelligence on computers.” One thing is certain, this key will completely change the way PC users use their computers, as well as the way they work.
