Computex 2023 – A 135-inch ProArt Micro-Led display for $200,000 at Asus

The manufacturer Asus is taking advantage of Computex 2023 to unveil its huge ProArt Micro-Led screen. Called ProArt Cinema MicroLED Display, this screen has a diagonal of 135 inches, but is content with an Ultra HD definition of 3840 x 2160 px. It is made up of panels of approximately 20 x 10 cm assembled in the factory. Asus announces 95% coverage of the DCI-P3 color space and above all a peak brightness of 2000 cd/m². This prototype only has one DisplayPort input, but supports a native frequency of 120 Hz. Remember that Micro-Led technology combines the advantages of Oled with individual pixel management, offering infinite contrast and time instantaneous response – like LCD monitors – as well as a very long lifespan and an absence of marking.

Theoretically, Micro-Led is the future of display, but large-scale production remains complicated and expensive. The Asus ProArt Cinema MicroLED Display is thus sold for approximately $200,000 excluding tax. This is less than the 146-inch Samsung The Wall Luxury which was sold in 2021 at around $350,000. Production is certainly gaining in efficiency and output, but the prices are still prohibitive for the general public. Asus has clearly told us to target the cinema market with this model.

We had already been able to quickly test the Samsung Micro-Led 110MS1A 2021 4K 110-inch in 2021 and unfortunately we were not impressed by this first “mainstream” Micro-Led TV. The peak brightness was then limited to 1260 cd / m², which is low for a Micro-Led model supposed to offer much higher brightness than an Oled model. In comparison, Oled TVs display a peak brightness of around 750 cd/m², QD-Oled models around 1000 cd/m² and the latest Oled TV LG G3 with its Oled Meta panel (equipped with billions of microlenses) reaches 1500 cd/m². For the moment, Oled technology is therefore reaching maturity and still offers the best value for money, even if the Micro-Led is in ambush.
