Even 150,000 euros may not be enough to cover Heinz Hoenig’s clinic costs. Does the donation goal need to be increased again?
Concern for Henz Hoenig (72) grows and grows. The “Das Boot” actor has to undergo two life-saving but extremely risky operations. In order to provide financial support to Hoenig, who, according to his management and his wife Annika Kärsten-Hoenig (39), does not have health insurance, a fundraising campaign was launched. The current donation goal of 150,000 euros is within reach, with 145,000 euros currently reached (as of May 9th, 2 p.m.). However, even this sum may not be enough.
Hoenig’s good friend Ralph Siegel (78) brought it to life. the “GoFundMe” campaign. His business partner Birgit Fischer-Höper now said loudly “Picture”-Newspaper: “Ms. Hoenig and we are overwhelmed by the amount received and would like to thank all donors from the bottom of our hearts. However, since the costs for the upcoming procedures will be much higher, we are currently considering increasing the donation target again.”
Not the first adjustment of the target amount
Since the fundraising campaign started, the target amount has had to be adjusted several times. The campaign to deal with Heinz Hoenig’s “surgery and clinic costs” began with the goal of reaching 50,000 euros. After several changes, it is currently 150,000 euros.
As a justification for the increasing target amount, the explanatory text for the appeal for donations states: “We ask for your understanding that we cannot give precise information about the exact costs, as even the medical team is still in the process of deliberating how Heinz can be treated in the best possible way Unfortunately, it is not possible to predict whether the recovery process can take place as planned.”
The acting star is fighting for his life in a Berlin clinic; he needs a new aorta and another operation on the esophagus. This procedure in particular carries a number of risks. The seriously ill Hoenig was able to make the decision himself to undergo the risky operations – that was very important to his wife, as was she in an interview with RTL explained.
