David Alaba will apparently not be able to help Real Madrid to make it to the Champions League final: the Austrian was injured in the first leg spectacle against Manchester City and now he will probably miss the second leg as well.
Before the second leg of the Champions League semi-final against Manchester City on Wednesday evening, Real Madrid are worried about the use of David Alaba. The 29-year-old former Bayern professional was also unable to train with the group on Monday and had already been “practically ruled out” for the duel at the Santiago Bernabéu, according to the Madrid journals “Marca” and “AS”.
The Spanish football record champion, who only secured his 35th league title on Saturday, has to make up for a 3-4 defeat on Wednesday. Alaba was injured and replaced in the defeat in Manchester last Tuesday. Coach Carlo Ancelotti had already had to do without the Austrian in the 4-0 win against Espanyol Barcelona on Saturday.
It is not known what injury Alaba, who was in the middle of the exuberant championship celebrations, suffered. Even the use of the first leg was questionable for a long time, Alaba had to struggle with muscular problems in the run-up to the game. The defender would now be replaced by Nacho Hernández in the second leg.
