Conchita producer – Austropop scene mourns: David Bronner (58) dead

The Viennese music producer David Bronner died unexpectedly at the age of 58, as several media reported on Friday evening. Bronner worked with, among others, the cult band Erste Allgemeine Ununsicherung (EAV) and the musicians Hubert von Goisern and Lemo. He also produced the winning Eurovision Song Contest track “Rise Like A Phoenix” by Conchita Wurst from 2014.

Bronner, born in Vienna in 1965, was the son of the composer, writer and cabaret artist Gerhard Bronner (1922-2007) and half-brother of “Standard” editor Oscar Bronner EAV as successor to Nino Holm. For the title “Something with Thirty” by Lemo, winner of the Best Sound award at this year’s “Amadeus Awards”, Bronner was jointly responsible for the recording, mix and artistic production. Great sadness “Not only that he was an extremely lovable person. .. with his heart in the right place, he always found the right tone in the political discussion – even in difficult times,” wrote radio veteran Eberhard Forcher on Facebook. And added: “Now from one moment to the next Everything else is different and a wonderful person and musician is suddenly no longer there.”
