A rapprochement is established on the side of the presidential majority: the Republic on the move, the MoDem and the Horizons party join forces for the elections of June 12 and 19. Guest of Europe Matin Friday, the Minister in charge of Relations with Parliament and Citizen Participation, Marc Fesneau, returned to these discussions.

In recent days, political families are scrambling to seal alliances in view of the legislative elections. On the side of the presidential majority, a rapprochement is recorded between the Republic on the move (LREM), the MoDem and Horizons under the label “Together”. Guest of Europe Matin Friday, the Minister Delegate to the Prime Minister, in charge of Relations with Parliament and Citizen Participation, Marc Fesneau, ensures that “the discussions went quietly”. “Nobody was humiliated, nobody had to slam doors, nobody had to give up who they are, and that’s bad enough,” he said.

Three political parties

A union which brings together the president LREM of the National Assembly, Richard Ferrand, the president of the MoDem, François Bayrou and that of Horizons, Édouard Philippe for the polls of June 12 and 19 to present common candidates for the legislative elections. “We wanted there to be a balance that recalls the historic construction made between LREM and the MoDem and which allows Horizons to find its full place”, explained the regional councilor in the opposition in Center Val de Loire.

A global agreement signed between the three main formations which was done gently and without rivalry, supports Marc Fesneau. Will this confederation have enough arms to face these legislative elections which promise to be a third round? “Some people want to make it a catch-up but the legislative elections are not a catch-up of the presidential election,” he said.
