Faced with the explosion of cases of Covid-19 carried by the Delta and Omicron variants, Emmanuel Macron led a health defense council followed by an exceptional Council of Ministers, Monday, December 27. In the process, Jean Castex and Olivier Véran unveiled the new measures aimed at curbing the current epidemic wave. From January 3 and for a minimum period of three weeks, the gauges will be restored during large gatherings, with the limit 2,000 people maximum indoors and 5,000 people maximum outdoors. As well, standing concerts will be prohibited and consumption necessarily seated in bars and cafes. However, this rule does not apply at political meetings.
When these measures are announced, the music sector has risen up. “We are once again becoming a forbidden sector. It’s terrible. We were not consulted,” details Malika Séguineau, head of the national union of musical and variety shows, in the wake, at Agence-France-Presse.
